In form Nick Hutchings took a brisk 20'28" for the North Cave course, which despite poor conditions, saw 40 students get under 23 minutes. Last year's joint silver medalllist Adrian Worthington, who had been showing good form leading up to the event, was pipped into 4th place by surprise package Colin Robertson, who started a minute behind Worthington.Women:

Meanwhile, Brenda Allen (Oxford) defended her 10 title successfully, though in a much tighter and higher quality event than last year, with Denise Hampson (Loughborough) and Louise King (Keele) taking the other medals.
In a tight battle for the team, favourites and last year's winners Loughborough were relegated to Bronze, by half a minute from winners Cambridge, who made some amends for their disastrous 5th place in the 4-up TTT, and just a second behind Bath.
A good day in general for CUCC.
