Ely Hardriders, 15th Feb 03
A chilly North-Easterly greeted those keen enough to start their
time-trialling season today at Ely for the Hardriders' 25. Six CUCC riders
entered, but only five raced as I'm getting over my latest period of
illness. A good qualty field was entered and there was always going to be
competition from the G.S. Invicta boys for the team prize, traditionally won
by our good selves. Some times:
Tom Botterill | 1.14. | ?? |
John Tuckett | 1.11. | ?? |
Alex Higham | 1.04.01 | |
Tim Melville | 1.01.49 | 5th place |
Pete Leek | DNF |
A good ride from John in his first 25 and all-round from everyone for such
an early-season outing.
Pete Leek was unlucky to pick up a puncture after 14 miles (though his
tribars had come loose prior to that which had hampered his progress
anyway).
Sadly we missed out on the team prize to the guys from Kent; but ex-CUCCer
Rob English came home second, one of only three riders to break the hour.
And Tim was pretty chuffed to put 2 seconds into APi new boy PNuT. Such a
satisfying margin ;-)
Tim and John are out next week in the North Road Hardriders, so best of luck
to them
