CUCC performing well

Congratulations to Alex Higham for his 3rd place in Saturday's Cambridge CC 25. His 1-00:15 would be a respectable 25-mile debut on any course, but is an excellent time for the challenging Bottisham circuit (where next year's Varsity Match will be held).

Lol, Rachel and I took part in the Weyhill Weekend, a feast of time-trialling near Andover. Lol and Rachel recorded a tandem time of 20:16 on the Saturday afternoon, and 22:10 and 23:14(?) respectively in the solo events. I improved my PB by 2 seconds, to 21:01, which was quite gutting.

On the Sunday morning, after a sleepless night of smarting, I felt pretty good and clocked 55:28 for the lumpy-but-fast 25 miles. This was good enough for 8th place in the men's event, won by James Gilfillan in 53:09. Later in the morning, the CCC tandem, contending with much stronger winds, came home in 55:02. Andrew Cockburn also got a 3rd in the expert section of the final round of the ERMA summer series - congratulations!
