Cambridge University's triathletes put in a good performance at the annual BUSA event, held in Corsham on Bank Holiday Monday. In the ladies' event captain Rachel Horn starred with an excellent 1:03:57 to take 1st place, ably supported by Emma Pooley (7th) and Mathilde Pauls (15th).
In the men's competition Cambridge placings were 14th (Alex Starling), 17th (Alex
Higham), 25th (David Mandeville) and 39th (Lennard Lee). Lee got the joint second fastest swim time with an impressive 4:36, only 3 seconds off the best performance of the day.
With the top two results from the men's and ladies' events contributing to the BUSA team competition, the solid times of Starling and Higham did just enough as understudy to the excellent work of Horn and Pooley to secure
3rd spot behind Loughborough and Bath, but ahead of a strong Birmingham team and arch-rivals Oxford. With the Varsity Match coming up on in Mansfield, Cambridge will be hoping to build on this result witha solid victory over the Dark Blues.
A full classification list can be found in the results section at BUSA Web Site under 'BUSA Championship'.
