Beyond racing and training to race, Cambridge University Cycling Club aims to cater for those for whom cycling is a more casual pursuit. Casual riders are entitled to wear the club colours (so long as they are club members) and to participate in club socials.

Casual rides of varying distances are organized from Cambridge, taking in a variety of routes which probe the gently rolling scenery of Hertfordshire and Essex. Pub and coffee runs are often on the agenda.

It is traditionally the responsibility of the Touring Secretary to look after this side of the club. Since this committee position is currently vacant, we are keen to hear from people who think they have the commitment, organizational and leadership skills to take on this role.

Such a person will organize, plan and lead casual and touring rides at the weekend from Cambridge, as well as organizing trips to more exciting places. These may well take place alongside road training weekends or mountain bike weekends away.

The casual side of the club works closely with the racing side, ensuring that anyone who wants to develop their athletic potential or begin to race is afforded ample opportunities to do so.

If you are an existing member of the club, or are about to come up to Cambridge, please email the club president, Tom Morris, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
