Equipment

The simulation, and simulation development work, that has been an instrumental part of the Cambridge project could not have happened without access to very reasonably-priced compute resources. The decision was taken to build a small Warewulf cluster, a HPC resource from the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in the USA, using second-hand servers since it gave us freedom to run jobs in an open-ended manner. This would not have been possible without Mark Nielson and his team at IT In Stock - they supplied us with five 64-core Supermicro servers plus associated networking equipment at a very competitive price. Furthermore, their after-sales support has been second-to-none even a year or so after equipment delivery.

If you are considering building your own cluster, IT In Stock come with the highest recommendation.
