CUCC Hillclimb

A noticeable headwind up the 1.7-mile drag from Fulbourn made for hard
going - more of a TT than a hillclimb, really. We abandoned the 2-stage
concept because of the surprisingly big field, ditching the short, easy,
tailwind side! The sun shone, but the air in our lungs was distinctly
chilly.
Thanks to everyone who turned up to make this event a success - not least
to Duncan Alexander, Paul Roberts and Alex Higham, who helped with the
timekeeping. The rather-longer-than-expected post-HC ride was a Saturday
route, incorporating the time-honoured tradition of the freewheeling
championship (from Hadstock hill down to Little Walden); this was won in
imperious fashion by a smooth-rolling and aerodynamic Andy Cockburn.
